Using
GDB and GNU Tools with the Guardian-SE JTAG Emulator
Today's JTAG Emulation tools
need to work with a wide variety of debug
environments from Open Source to commercial. To meet this need,
the Guardian-SE JTAG Emulator was designed from the ground-up to work with all popular
GDB-Based debuggers (GDB, DDD, Insight, Eclipse and others) as well as
our own JTAG debugger--Agile-DB. With
the popularity of, LINUX and the attendant rise of open source
tool use in general, many engineers are looking to GDB based debug
tools for embedded development.
GDB
based tools are already proven performers for native debugging of LINUX
and of embedded systems using the GDB stub protocal over
serial or
ethernet link.
In
recent years, the use of GDB with JTAG emulators has become
increasingly popular as well. Embedded Toolsmiths'
Guardian-SE
JTAG Emulator adds substantial functionalty to existing open source
debug tools such as:

Engineers
can now use the same tools for native and embedded LINUX debug and
additionally, can leverage the powerful economics of free software for
board bring-up and embedded system debug. If users require
additional debug power for board bring-up through manufacturing test,
our high end C/C++ source level Debugger, Agile-DB
is alsoavailable.
Guardian-SE JTAG
Emulation with GDB Based Tools: How it Works
Guardian-SE
supports all popular GDB based debuggers. Open source debug tools offer
a cost effective way to do source level debugging with our Guardian-SE
JTAG ICE. Simply connect Guardian-SE to your target; set an IP address
and connect with your favorite GDB based Debugger. You can also launch
a ‘telnet’ connection to Guardian-SE, giving you
access to the full power of the Guardian-SE Command Set.
